We're Here to Help

Where Can I Recharge?

For starters, there's no place like home. Almost all electric cars can plug into an ordinary household outlet (110V or Level I) to top off their batteries for your commute or daily errands. Many households and apartment complexes have installed Level II Fast Chargers (240V, like a clothes dryer outlet) that can fully recharge a car in about three hours. Many companies offer workplace chargers, so you can recharge while you work. And locally and nationally, tens of thousands of Fast and Super public chargers are available to find wherever you want to go, using your PC or smartphone at Plugshare.

How Do I Get a Home Charging Station?

Many manufacturers now make Level II Fast Chargers and transformers, many with meters or timers that ensure you get the lowest possible rates when charging. Kentucky Power can recommend home charging stations that meet your needs, install 240V power if necessary, and help install your charging station. Contact us at pev@aep.com to learn more.

Can I Get Charging Stations For My Apartment/Condo?

As electric cars grow popular, convenient charging stations are a great amenity for residential housing. Talk to your building owner or manager about your electric car needs. Kentucky Power will be happy to discuss affordable charging station options to serve their residents, as well as offer any necessary electrical services and support.

Can I Get Charging Stations For My Business?

Offering charging services to your customers is a draw and a courtesy for customers: with Fast Chargers, they can get an 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes — charging while they dine or shop. If you have company cars, workplace charging stations make a lot of sense. And workplace chargers let you offer a plug-in perk for your employees: fully charging while they work for just a few dollars per week. Visit Energy Conversion Hub or email Kentucky Power to learn more about our workplace charger resources and services.

Where Can I Find a Qualified Contractor?

Contact your local Better Business Bureau for recommendations, then contact the electrician or contractor to discuss your charging station requirements and their relevant experience. Kentucky Power can work with your electrician or contractor to ensure you have the electric service you need for your charging station(s).

HomeServe USA Corp (HomeServe) is a leading provider of home electrical installation, repair and home emergency solutions, serving more than 3.7 million customers across the U.S. and Canada. AEP Advocacy

We're watching and shaping a revolution. A revolution of electric cars. Business models, investments and investors, and infrastructure are evolving to create new, smart strategies for the future. We're working with our customers and communities to support charging infrastructure to make electric cars attractive to drive and charging easy to access.

We believe the future holds boundless opportunities to come together with communities to build the future of energy. And electric cars are a key feature of a future sustainable economy.  Our electric infrastructure will be robust, and our capacity is great to help businesses and communities build out charging facilities.

We believe policymakers can leverage our local energy companies' unparalleled capabilities to support long-lasting electric car charging in communities. We're working together with state and local governments, regulators, economic development partners, businesses and technology experts to seek incentives, funding and other resources for both electric car buyers as well as businesses ready to install charging stations.

When we think about it, supporting electric cars and charging stations are just more ways that we're working to build a brighter future for us all.
