GAHANNA, Ohio, Dec. 4, 2014 — As a way to educate customers about its Appliance Recycling Program, AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP), has selected Zanesville artists, Joleen Kinsel, Carrie Turner and Natasha Oliver of The Artist Collective, to turn an inefficient refrigerator into a work of art inspired by three legendary artists, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Vincent van Gogh.
The AEP Ohio Appliance Recycling Program is part of the company’s initiative to help customers use less energy, decrease energy costs, conserve natural resources and protect the environment. AEP Ohio customers can earn a $50 rebate when they schedule their inefficient refrigerator or freezer to be recycled. AEP Ohio will pick up the appliance free of charge and haul it away.
Over the past few months, Kinsel, Turner and Oliver have been transforming a 1940s refrigerator in their gallery located inside the Masonic Temple at 38 N. 4th St. in Room 512. The transformed refrigerator will be on display at their gallery during Zanesville’s First Friday Art Walk, Dec. 5, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and it will continue to be on display through late December.
Kinsel, Turner and Oliver have been working together since they opened their gallery in 2012. They have a shared passion for all types of art, and they thrive on learning from each other and meshing their styles together to create beautiful art for their community.
“We enjoyed being able to work on this project together, while taking our three favorite artists styles and meshing them together,” Kinsel said. “We set out to prove you can meld differences of style and genre and make something amazing that will encourage others to recycle.”
