Another successful Power Up the Pantry event is in the books for Kentucky Power and WYMT, which partner to present the annual food drive. On Thursday, food collection sites across eastern Kentucky collected nearly 4,000 pounds of nonperishable food items and more than $27,000, which benefit God’s Pantry and Facing Hunger food banks.

A ground breaking ceremony in July marked the beginning of a new chapter for a family that lost everything in the floods that devastated several counties in Kentucky Power's southeastern service area. Thanks to a grant made by the AEP Foundation to the Housing Development Alliance in Hazard, this family and several more will have a new house to call "home."
Kentucky Power recently awarded a $100,000 grant to the eKentucky Advanced Manufacturing Institute (eKAMI). The grant, funded through the Kentucky Power Economic Growth Grant (K-PEGG) program, will enable the purchase of state-of-the-art computer software required to conduct training for eKAMI students.
There’s a neighborhood in Hazard that’s taken the title “new” to the next level. Residents of the Gurney’s Bend neighborhood, along with stakeholders in the project, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially begin their lives in the first new subdivision constructed in Hazard in 50 years. Construction of the much-needed neighborhood was, in part, thanks to a $100,000 contribution made by Kentucky Power through the AEP Foundation.
