The American Electric Power Foundation has awarded a $52,500 grant to Hindman Settlement School in Knott County to empower nutritional education and service opportunities for the people of Appalachia. The grant was recommended by Kentucky Power to address the issues of food insecurity and health disparities facing the region.

The American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation recently awarded $20,000 to support Build Ashland’s Repair Affair program, which is dedicated to making essential repairs on houses and yards for older adults who are economically disadvantaged or disabled. Kentucky Power recommended the grant as part of a commitment to helping address housing disparities in its service area.

Kentucky Power recently announced a $200,000 Kentucky Power Economic Growth Grant (K-PEGG) award to SOAR that will assist in the expansion of its new employment program in an effort to bolster a big economic impact. The program, EKY Remote, offers a work-from-home incentive the company hopes will propel more people to make a move to eastern Kentucky.

New energy efficiency programs underway for Kentucky Power customers

New energy efficiency programs are under development for Kentucky Power customers to help lower electric usage and bills. As part of the approval process, Kentucky Power will file its Demand-Side Management (DSM) proposal with the Kentucky Public Service Commission on May 1.
