2022 K-PEGG Summary: Nearly $1M in economic development activities reported

In 2022, Kentucky Power invested $951,483 in economic development activities in its service territory through the Kentucky Power Economic Growth Grant (K-PEGG) program.

The K-PEGG program assists in the funding of economic development programs that promote the creation and retention of manufacturing and/or industrial investment and jobs. The program is a partnership between Kentucky Power and its customers. Commercial and industrial customers contribute $1 monthly, and company stockholders match the customer.

The program is available in all 20 counties served by Kentucky Power. Grant applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of Kentucky Power employees and delegates of the Kentucky Association of Economic Development and the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet. 2022 KPEGG Highlights

  • Johnson County Fiscal Court was awarded $275,000 for site development at Hager Hill.
  • One East Kentucky received a $270,000 award to create downtown revitalization plans for six communities.
  • City of Pikeville was granted $50,000 to develop a medical industry cluster.
  • Lawrence County Fiscal Court was awarded $30,000 to identify potential industrial sites and create a plan for their development.
  • City of Ashland received a $21,000 award for economic development education.
